Texas Hold Em

Tips For Playing Texas Hold Em

There are things you can do to give you an edge in the Texas hold em card game. What are they?
Here are just a few.

1. Know when to call

Obviously knowing when to call and when to fold is very important, especially pre flop. If you have a bad hand you don't want to risk your chips. Staying in with 7 2 might work some times, but odds are it is going to work against you, so it is probably a better idea to just get out before you bet too much.
Instead try to wait to get a good hand before calling or at least a decent one.

2. Learn to Read People

People tend to act in predictable ways. Notice it; notice any little thing a person does that can give you a hint of what they have. It is amazing how often you will be able to get out of a losing hand or win a large pot because you were an active observer.

3. Bluff when you think you will win, but don't keep at it

Bluffing is a great way to scare everyone out of a hand. When they are constantly checking try to bet to scare them off. Just beware, If they keep checking and calling they might have a hand and you may want to stop bluffing. It can also help you in the future. If people know you bluffed in the past they will think you will bluff in the future. So, some people might call you in the future because of that.

4. Let Others Bet

Letting others bet when you have a good hand is a great way to reel them in. Next Time you have a great hand and don't want to scare everyone out try checking and hope someone tries to "bluff you out". If they do, be happy, and keep letting them bluff, nothing wrong with that.
